Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan Maclean (all UK) took part in the 2019 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, rowing the Atlantic Ocean east to west from La Gomera to Antigua in BROAR. The Scottish siblings finished the race in third place in 35 days 9 hr 9 min. They were raising money for the Feedback Madagascar and Children 1st charities.


The brothers departed San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain, on 12 December 2019 and arrived at Jolly Harbour in Antigua on 16 January 2020. Their 35-day row across 2554 nautical miles (4,730 km; 2,939 miles) of ocean averaged a speed of 3.01 knots (5.57 km/h; 3.46 mph).
