The oldest person ever (male) was Jiroemon Kimura (Japan), who was born on 19 April 1897 and died aged 116 years 54 days, on 12 June 2013.
From 1914, Kimura worked at the Post Office until the age of 65 when he retired but continued to engage in agriculture until he was 90. He has lived over three centuries. His personal motto was "eat light to live long" and he believed the key to his longevity is to be a healthy, small eater.
